You know that funny looking ball shaped weight with a handle on top that may be tucked away in weird places at your gym? Well, that is a kettlebell, and it’s actually one of the best piece of equipment you could put into your hands. Kettlebells have been around for a long time, but is recently picking up steam in America, as fitness enthusiasts have discovered the numerous benefits to kettlebell training for all ages and fitness levels.
Unlike most commercial gyms, Age Performance’s kettlebells aren’t sitting in a dark spot in the gym collecting dust–they have become a big part of the training style at the gym. And now, thanks to a recent kettlebell workshop held by Dan John, they will be used more effectively and properly.
On May 31st Dan John, a strength and conditioning coach, and one of the best fitness gurus in the industry offered a workshop at his house, where he also holds free workouts throughout the week to whoever wants a great and functional workout. Many trainers from Age Performance attended this full day workshop led by Dan John, and Age Performance trainers, Mike Brown and Marc Halpern. The workshop went over the functional movements the human body needs: push, pull, hinge, squat, and loaded carries. It was a great day learning the functional movements with regressions and progressions, and all of us at Age Performance thank Dan for putting on the workshop, even if our hamstrings were sore for the three days following the workshop.
